This is the G5655T-CB Semi-hollow body guitar from Gretsch! This a radical redesign of the “double jet” concept. While the guitar has the body shape of the standard Electromatic Double Jet, the construction is entirely different. It features a true semi-hollow body design with 5 ply maple top, back & sides. The result of this design is a very well balanced, light weight and lively sounding guitar. The G5655T-CB keeps with the tradition of the Electromatic series offering a great playing and sharp looking guitar with killer tone and an affordable price. These are simply phenomenal guitars with classic Gretsch vibes and tone but the addition of a “center-block” of spruce increases sustain and feedback rejection. The quality, fit & finish are outstanding with great fretwork and professional level setup. The “Black-Top” Filter’Tron bridge pickup is punchy and bright and handles gain and overdrive really well. The new Dual-Coil SUPER HiLo’Tron offers the warm woody tones of the classic “Hilo” single coil but with increased output and noiseless operation.
The G5655T-CB Electromatic® Center-Block Electric Guitar features That Great Gretsch Sound™ with the “center-block advantage.” The interior solid spruce center block running the length of the guitar’s 1 ¾”-deep Double Jet™ body makes for a lively “high gain-friendly” tone and delivers greater control over the kind of feedback players want. The new dual-coil Super HiLo’Tron™ neck pickup is voiced to produce a clean, high-end sparkle with robust low-end, low-noise performance. Together with the “Black Top” Filter’Tron™ bridge pickup, it’s a potent tonal combination.
Other premium features include five-ply maple body construction with a bound arched top and back, a bound maple neck and a 12.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and Neo-Classic™ “thumbnail” inlays. The G5655T-CB also has three-way pickup switching, single-ply black pickguard with Gretsch logo, four “G-arrow” control knobs (volume for each pickup, bridge-pickup-only tone, master volume), anchored Adjusto-Matic™ bridge and flat-handle Bigsby®-licensed B50 vibrato, Grover® tuners and knurled strap retainer knobs. Available in Black, Rosa Red and Georgia Green gloss finishes.
